Welcome to the Rick 'n Roll show

This forum is dedicated to the new show that our very own Rick and Roll is going to be putting on. It's going to be an interesting combination of whatever happens to grab Rick's attention, I'd imagine.

Tune in! Show times to be announced soon.

Greetings Moonies.....

I'm about to embark on something that I hope everyone enjoys listening to as much as I will enjoy doing (and no it's not THAT;) .

After racking my brain trying to figure out how to fill in the programming blanks, I've decided to incorporate many different ideas in this show. Instead of being beholden to one topic, I am going to have a rotating theme each week. Some of these will appear more often than another, and I will try to use as much of the Moon library as possible.

Here are the themes:

New Music - this is something that we've been looking to do for a while. If there's an addition during the week, I will try to play at least one tune off of each addition.

"Tweeners" - here's one that I find VERY exciting. Seems to me there's a very large amount of music not quite progressive enough to be on the playlist yet enjoyable. Some of these may be rolled into the other themes as opposed to a separate show.

Classic Rockers - I can hear the groans already. However, these will be the most progressive of the music by artists you would not likely see on the playlist. Probably they are songs not played on radio. Bands like Zeppelin, The Who, Elton John come to mind. Example: you will NOT hear "Crocodile Rock" but you may hear "Out of the Blue".

Artist Spotlights - some of these may not be ones that come immediately to mind. A great way of seeing if that band you're unsure of does it for you.

Specials - The great festivals such as Nearfest, Progday, Rosfest, and others - bands present and past will be highlighted. Shows will run close to the festival date.

Heavier selections - aaahhhh I'm looking forward to this. That said, this will not be as prevelant a theme. There are tons of songs palatable to the discerning ear but not tried due to initial opinions. I think you may be surprised here.

Requests - want to hear something? Tough shit! Seriously, I'll run a show every so often with collections of songs you want to hear.

Fusion - A genre near and dear to my heart.

Full length classics - keeps you from having to dig them out!

If I maneuver this right, there are plenty of topics to cover and songs to play. My goal is to have you enjoy the show and hear a lot of different things.

Look for a set list for the first show in a few days........

NOOOOOO! This is something I've been planning on BrainRock! I've even got some ready! I'm calling them Meet (X) where X is an artist.

Hmm..., you know what they say Rick, great minds think alike.

My classic rock station back home has the 9 o'Clock Rock Block where they play one hour of one artist. Yeah.

Howdy neighbor! i have a feeling we will spotlight different artists.:D

Heh, you know, it looks like we have VERY similar shows! Artist showcases, themes, heavier-than-AM-rockers, classic rock moments, and tweeners. Weird. Both of us have DJ driven shows.

Great Caesar's Ghost! First Rick agrees with 'Spaz, then 'Spaz agrees with Rick!

Is it the end of the world? Mercy me...

If Rick didn't care what happened to me
and I didn't care what happened to him
you would zig-zag your way
through the show-less malaise
occasionally glancing up through the rain
wondering why we have no show's pla'yn
and watching for pigs on the wing

The Rick and Roll Show

Way to go Rick! Good luck with your new show.

And if you promise to play "The Wizard" from Uriah Heep's
"Demons and Wizards" lp, I'll think you're a real cool guy.

ps: I hope your commercials are better than Spaz's. :D

a) If you have it that I can put in a file, I'll play it (esp since I don't remember the song and should be fun).

b) I am a real cool guy. Maybe I can be cooler, though:cool:

c) They will be better....if I can get them recorded in time. May have to wait a week though:(

Hey Rick,

I have an mp3 of the song. Tell me where I can upload it to, and I'll send it right away.

ps: I also have the original on vinyl. I am shocked you don't know the song. :D

Rick and Roll 09-26-2004 10:45 AM

shocked!

Heep is one of those bands I never owned anything by, Procul Harum's another.

my email I guess is the best way...

Rick, you were born to love Heep! Try Demons & Wizards or The Magician's Birthday. Return to Fantasy is another great album.

Sheeeaaaw! They got like keyboards and everything dude!

Mick Box was my hero. That little fucker could play!!! I can still see the image of him strattling his stage monitor with his head tilted back and his hair almost touching the floorboards. Whaling away on his Gibson SG Standard while we banged our heads on the air and held our fists aloft, pumping them in mock triumph to the ideals we held dear........the debauchery in the air at Heep concerts was palpable.
