Can we just fix it?

I posted a while back about the requests....when hitting next it doesn't go to next, it goes to the beginning of the playlist.

I had some helpful suggestions, but none really fixes the problem. I request very little...but others who try to scan for music by a group is SOL.

Is this possible to fix...please?

Well, between working 50-60 hours/week, plus about 30-40/week on the station, I have to prioritize things. This, I'm afraid, isn't one of those things that has to be addressed immediately.

In short, would you like to take a stab at it? I can set you up a test environment in a very short time and you can hack and program to your heart's desire.

It's in PHP4.

Knock yerself out.

Roger -Dot- Lee, looking for volunteers. Desperately.

Rick and Roll 10-05-2004 07:55 PM

down boy!

The reason my post was of a pleading nature was that someone had voiced a concern about this a while ago, and the thread took a weird turn (as they do on the Moon:) )

If it's not easily fixed, or if the time does not permit, it's always fine with me. I am fully aware that this is becoming a time burden.

It certainly does not have to be addressed immediately - actually, if it never gets addressed, I'm cool with that.

PHP4 hah? any books I can read on the subject? I'd like to get it fixed too, but I know Roger is busy and I get tired of saying "Roger can you fix this?" At least it's a change from when I said "Davin can you fix this?"

Jim, remarkably technically incompetent for an Engineer...

(actually, I'm a hardware guy. My last sofware experience was Fortran. In college. In 1982 or 1983.)

Rick and Roll 10-06-2004 12:14 PM

I know little technical stuff, but I can organize and manage things.

So no thanks on the invite Roger......

The last time this glitch was raised, there was a deafening silence. This indicated to me that it was not looked at. That's basically why I re-raised the question.

I also do not want you (Jim) to say "Roger can you fix this" - if the issue is acknowledged and noted, that's all I care about.

As indicated by Roger's reply, it's been noted. I got a little bit more than what I asked for in way of technical information, but never look a gift horse in the mouth.

I too remember Fortran. But when I was at college (81-84), Foreplay was more of a major. :p

It may be fixed......

I searched on the A's today for the theme and when I went "next page" that is what I got, and the next and the next etc. etc.

Rick and Roll 10-06-2004 01:06 PM

nice try

It is ok by alpha....just not by band;)

Barnes and Noble has a bunch of them. I've dug around the code and it looks fairly standard and straightforward to me.

Of course, anything more complex than "Hello World" is beyond my grasp in most programming languages.

But I'm an absolute terror with a FORTH interpreter.

I know the feeling. But like I told my boss: "I'm peddlin' as fast as I can!".

Unfortunately I think my brain is full. It seems that every time I learn something new, something else falls out of my ears.

No WONDER we get along so well. HARDWARE WONKS UNTIE!

Or something.

I saw it, and I could have sworn I responded to it, but I've slept since then, so anything could have happened (including, and certainly not limited to, gremlins, politicians, or white bread).

Consider it acknowledged. We know it's there, it's just a matter of finding the spare cycles to do something about it.

That's one of the hazards of discussing technical things with me: you're likely to get a lot more information than you bargained for.

I never took computer classes in college. My exposure to Fortran has been strictly self-induced. Same with COBOL and just about anything else computer related that I've learned.

Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment.

Incidently, Jim: if you're seriously interested in taking a shot at this problem, let me know. I'll set up a duplicate copy of the station for testing purposes. We have the disk space, and we're not going to need all that much extra memory (just another entry in the apache config files and a DNS entry).

As a matter of fact, I might do that anyway. Having a test environment never hurt anyone anywhere. And who knows, I might actually find a few cycles to give it a look-see myself.

Roger -Dot- Lee, Geek should be my middle name, but '-Dot-' just looks cooler.

Well, if I had the funds to pay you, would I need to have help organizing them?

Roger -Dot- Lee, "Overdrawn? Impossible! I still have checks left!"
