zenpool's "kharmonics" 4.7.05

hey gang~ i finally got my act together (but not taking it
on the road). the 1st cd "kharmonics" will be available on
cdbaby, as either a cd or as downloads, itunes, and all
the usual outlets.

it's all done up in retail-ready digipaks for that "art-to-the-edge"
look, pro mastered and replicated @ diskmakers.

this one represents the 3 years and thousands of hours i've been
learning the craft of recording and production, not to mention composing,
graphics, just a closet full of hats.
from my early solos to the duets w/ steve hall, to the full band "majiker"
(unreleased), setting the current progish direction.

featuring a virtual who's who of the net scene~
on guitar, steve "the questionnaires" hall,
ONOFFON's von babasin on bass (look for onoffon
on music street journal's new compilation cd along w/
erik norlander, lana lane, djam karet)
..and squeaking through at the last minute-
joel kelly on vocs.
these tunes have topped internet charts on besonic(germany),
mp3.com.au(australia),broadjam,songplanet, some 40 times @ #1,
an IOMA award for "best producer".

thanks especially to dot, jim, teermin8er, podakayne for
your encouragement and support!

holy crap!!!

i have to share this w/ everyone~

TED PERLMAN (bob dylan guitarist, producer of
joe cocker, ringo, elton john, chicago, countless others,
check out his credits- www.tedperlman.com ),
LIKED OUR LATEST TUNE SO MUCH, HE OFFERED TO
MIX/PRODUCE OUR NEXT CD!!!

how cool is that?!!?

bouncing 'round the room-

way to go!

you should be bouncing.....look forward to hearing it!

thanks for the support rick! much appreciated.

i think that because we don't adhere strictly to
"let's write a prog tune", that we have a certain
accessibility factor going (and a large % of females
in the fanbase), making us more attractive to the
mainstream listeners, professionals.

i can't think of too many times that a mainstream
producer of this calibre has done anything vaguely
prog related, except maybe on yes's "the ladder".

imo- the genre could use it!

My copy arrived in today's mail. It's already been listened to by myself and My Good Wife. In spite of her questionable taste in music, she loved it as much as I did.

And a fine job done by all, from inception to delivery, I might add.

And a well deserved statement of fact, judging by the quality of this CD.

Just ran thru the samplers, sounds awesome, and is on my immediate purchse list, via my CDBaby account (excellent choice on picking one on the coolest distributors around, and local!), but... couldn't find it by Search or Browse. Any help?

PS: congrats from the Other Side of the Sound :)

kirk 04-13-2005 02:30 PM

howdy neighbor, and thanks!

i have to say mr.stivers and the cdbaby gang do more
for indies than all the OMDs combined!

our bassist von's band ONOFFON (awesome band,
you should check them out!) was one of the 1st artists
on cdbaby.

i'm biting my nails waiting for account activation..
it should be up very quickly.

I see.......once I get through this week at work, I'll sample some of the tunes. Looks like a good idea to have a full play on a future Rickter Scale in May (next three or four shows are set).

I still have to do a thread for this week, etc....

Hashish huh? Must be an instrumental.....

thanks rick! i listen to your show when i can,
it's very good!

not advocating anything...the title fits.
i do everything on that one.

i'd say, start w/-

"scirocco"- if i were doing a vid for it,
it'd be arabian knights charging across the dunes.
steve and my 1st work together, i wanted to
showcase the new guitarist.

"majiker"-likely "the single",a neoprog tune that
could've been written anytime in the last 30 years.
i do the drums, keys, co-vocals on that one,
besides producing the tracks using diverse
recording equipment from around the world..piece o' cake!

FBH&A- a slowburn, unfolding prog(ish) tune w/ bluesy guitar
overtones, original sound design.
steve played in a chas(jimi hendrix)chandler-managed
newcastle blues band starting out, opened for ray charles,
buddy guy, so he comes by the gilmore comparisons honestly.

hey all~ please welcome my friend von babasin!
do i "bring with" a classy crowd or what?

von grew up playing around the feet of the likes of coltrane, charlie "byrd" parker.
he's a 2nd generation bassist, the son of hollywood jazz legend harry babasin
of art pepper's band.
if anyone's seen "ray" lately (and who hasn't),
you'll notice a large "art pepper" poster in several places.

an all around nice guy, von anchors the bottom end
of net scene legends, L.A. band ONOFFON, as well as doing
double duty for us.
i might also mention, onoffon drummer dave goode's
recorded and toured w/ frank marino's band.

@von~ bud, congrats on the IOMA!!!
...i suppose we can still hang w/ those other guys...:D
