Alternate Lyrics for Moonies song

I didn't want to derail the other thread, but several years back I wrote a poem that I always thought would suit an epic prog song well. However, I'm not talented enough musically to write a prog song (that's why I play drums and hang out with musicians ;) )

It's conceptual in nature, and I'll happily explain it if anyone's interested.

So, if experiment one works and there's a desire to do another,
I humbly propose "Six Bridges:"

The road that led you to this bridge I’ve only seen in dreams
While the holy lands you’re seeking hold no meaning for me now
Though together here and now we’re headed for our destinations
We have our own desires and our separate fields to plow

You’ve drank your fill of water that I’ve had no chance to sample
You’ve never been to fields and hills I know and love so well
As I grasp the situation it’s no longer a surprise to me
That my perfect heaven might be bordered on your private hell

On another day I find I’m on a bridge without somebody
With crumpled bits of faded maps could not complete the trip
As I look below she looks up and our eyes meet for a moment
Like good-byes unsaid as someone climbs aboard a sinking ship

My journey started far beneath the laden sky of winter
When you arrive the blinding sun has turned the grass to brown
Though we understand each other we cannot believe the stories
Where I hear rhythmic music you cannot discern a sound

Water flowing freely falling far below the bridges
The vast expanse of sky reflects in quiet, silent pools
Harsh and uninviting beauty dares, demands appreciation
Jagged rocks and reeling heights hide countless priceless jewels

Still looking for the bridge across a canyon undiscovered
In dreams I’ve found and crossed it in my surest, quickest stride
With open eyes and eagerness I lack only direction
I’ve been near before but then I only thought to hide

Shoot, sounds good to me.

Hah, all you need now is a seventh verse about roads and we can pass it off as a cover of the Eagles' "Seven Bridges Road." ;)

you may die for that!;) I intentionally avoided "Five Bridges" to avoid plagiarizing the Nice, and "Seven Bridges" to avoid it becoming mindless pap.:p

It's too conventionally ABCB for a prog lyric.

Besides, it's lacking all the basic prog elements: the netherworld, love, gobblins and gnomes, space, alien encounters, alcohol and drug references, etc. :D Only joking...

The first movement of "Close To The Edge" is conventionally AABB . Yet, I think that song qualifies as prog...:D

And love, alcohol, and alien encounters (OK, that last one's a bit of a stretch) actually are included in there, albeit somewhat cryptically...

Guys, tell me please, who is the composer in Moonies band? Or is this a common effort?

If you need something, I'd be grateful to help. I'm quite experienced in composing (unlike playing ;).

I was wondering that my very own self. Looks like we have our lyricist (in spite of Vax's objection). I'm sure someone could put that to a 7/8 or 11/8 meter if they tried hard enough...

Or better yet: multi-meter. One bar in 6 and 4 simultaneously, the next in 7 and 11 simultaneously...

The possibilities are endless....

Roger -Dot- Lee, couldn't compose himself out of a wet paper sack if a gun was held to his head and a bevy of buxom blondes his reward.
