The Fusion Reactor #219 - I'm Thankful For Prog

Quick note... the clothing drive and homeless outreach were a great success. It was definitely an eye-opening experience, which made me start Thanksgiving a week early. So speaking of which, I thought I'd put together a show of some (yeah only some) of my favorite prog and fusion artists.

Medieval Overture Return To Forever 5:14
Dream Mahavishnu Orchestra 11:10
Cardeosa Mclaughlin, DiMeola, De Lucia 6:36
Leviathan Morse, Neal 6:06
Koroze (Corrosion) Uz Jsme Doma 7:11
Kinetic Violent Silence 7:12
You Enjoy Myself Phish 9:50
You Can Never Go Home Moody Blues 4:15
Turbulence Howe, Steve 4:56
Backside Edge KBB 7:47
Miracles Out Of Nowhere Kansas 6:29
Starless King Crimson 12:35

Hello, moses...I think you make a good selection.

We all Moonies are thankful for you. ;)

Moses,

GREAT SHOW

Let me say it again: Great Show!

Thank you for sharing with us what music you are thankful for. I know I enjoyed it - and it seemed like there were lots of positive feedback in the ShoutBox too!

I appreciate all you are doing and hope you keep up the GREAT work.

Looking forward to next week's show.

Blessings,
Ted - from Texas!

RTF - one of the best records ever made
Neal - off his new one? Do I need to spend MORE money?
Violent Silence - Check out their my space, I'm on the front page - just heard this song through the blinding Ohio show not too far fom Moses-land.
KBB - yea!
Kansas - my favorite Kansas song

Coincidentally, Miracles and Starless are two of the three songs that come to mind when I think of the most powerful song endings (Natural Science is the other). Ditto to Ted's comments!

Wow, you folks are much too gracious. I'm not worthy.

I gotta agree about those song endings, although in my opinion Jacob's Ladder might edge out Natural Science by a hair.

I'm not really in a band, but there are some friends with whom I get together every so often and jam, play covers, or write songs. We kicked around the idea of covering Starless after I played the guitar melody but Jesse (the keyboard guy) was unfamiliar with the song. (He's a jazz/classical guy who I'm converting to prog via fusion.) Bill (the drummer) put it on and we listened and that amazing ending came crashing down on us in that little room like an epiphany.

We sat in stunned silence for a moment, then I said, "...and that's why they're the best band ever."

And Jesse said, "Wow."

Anekdoten crushed on this at the 1994 (or 5) Progscape in Baltimore. It was like 1:45 AM too. Maybe Jesse needs some coffee!
