Steve Hackett with Genesis Revisited II in Oberhausen (DE) on May 5, 2013

The gig took place in a medium sized convention center. It was sold out with aprox 800 ppl attending. Good for me, the place was organized with numbered seats. We were in row 7, a little left from the center of the stage.

The gig begun sharp on the stated hour and we had a show of 2,5 hours. They started with „Watchers of the Sky“. They played during the evening Musical Box, pieces from „The Lamb“ etc, all Genesis classics. Last tune on the regular set was „Supper's Ready“. The encore finished with the classical „Los Endos“.

Nad Sylvan did nearly all the vocals. For the first time I realized the complexity of the voice part in the tunes. Nad did an excellent job. He performed excellent giving the tunes also his personal, individual touch. Also the rest of the band performed excellent with virtuosity (Although on some tunes it seemed that they got lost a little not being 100% coordinated).

It could have been the absolute perfect gig, but unfortunately it was way too loud. On “fortissimo” parts sometimes the music melted together in loud noise with rhythm (Maybe you know what I mean). Nad, singing then high tones, did not make it better and it hurt the ears. Fortunately, 50 % of the time the level of volume was acceptable (but only because the tunes dictated this).

I hope, that this was only an accident of our gig, as for the rest it was really, really great.
