Requests??

Hello,

My current schedule runs through the next four weeks...

* Iceland
* Norway
* Denmark
* Scandinavian Metal

After that I can do anything. ANYTHING. So tell me a country. If I have enough stuff I will do it. If I don't I will weep openly and ask you to pick again. Either way, you win.

If nobody has preferences I'll just pick stuff myself, which is cool too.

Regards,
Sean

Hmmmm... Let's go to Japan!

How asbout China while we're at it?

byzantium 07-23-2003 01:07 PM

Greece, Turkey, South America...

Guys,

Thanks for the requests! It helps give me direction ;).

I would be thrilled to do Japan, Greece, and South America. I need a bit of work before I'm ready to present Turkey, and I'm afraid I know of *no* progressive rock per se from China (there were/are bands from South Korea but I don't have any of that yet either... it's a big world!)

If anyone else has requests let me know. I'm going to try to schedule through the end of September (at least) fairly soon, and I'm happy to do anything, but other folks might want an emphasis on one area or another... it's all good.

Regards,
Sean

France is an obvious choice, and Spain as well.

another good theme would be miscellaneous - get to all those countries that have only one or two prog bands each

Hey,

France would be great. The main challenge there is that it is such a large scene that it would take many, many weeks to do it all, but I'm also not sure how people would feel about me splitting it up and doing a French show every so often. It might be harder to keep a good flow that way, but it would save me having to do a 3-month long series on the same country.

Spain has that problem only to a lesser degree because the scenes can fairly easily be split up by region, so it wouldn't be any longer than the Swedish series was. I can probably do some shows in the Fall on Spain.

There will probably be some multi-country shows in the future as well, since some simply don't have large enough scenes to support even two hours. In those cases I'll try to do it logically and combine similar countries where possible.

Sean

Yeah, France would be a challenge. One way to split it up might be stylistically - then you could do a week or two on each style.

Something like Magma/Zeuhl; Clearlight and family; dark Symphonic like Ange/Pulsar; Shylock/Minimum Vital type stuff, etc.

Of course, there could be many different ways to divide up the scene - I promise not to bitch if your classifications differ from mine!

(If the French scene is big, dare I mention Italy?):eek:

Hey,

"Yeah, France would be a challenge. One way to split it up might be stylistically - then you could do a week or two on each style."

This is probably the best way to do it in the end. Otherwise it is simply too mammoth to contemplate.

"(If the French scene is big, dare I mention Italy?)"

Yup, Germany too. At least with the Italian scene most of the best stuff has been reissued. With France there is a LONG way to go. I could probably do a month on unreissued stuff alone although it would vary a lot stylistically.

Maybe I'll schedule the first 4-6 parts of France in the Fall, and then postpone the rest until later.

Regards,
Sean
