Step back...

Here's a post from Jim, from a thread I found. The reason I made that statement (don't get US started on Echoes) was that I remembered Jim saying something about it. My memory was correct, here it is...

hehehe - I was wondering how long it would take before somebody jumped on "Learning To Fly". I expected it, but that wasn't just bait - I do like the song. I did not say it was one of their best, just one of my favorites. I particularly like the lyrical content. And it is not attempting to be an epic - it works perfectly as a fairly simple 5 minute song.

I do like Atom Heart Mother better than Echoes. It's a bit disjointed, but I think it says and does a whole lot more than Echoes. I stick to my original statement - Echoes is a great 5 minute song. At 23 minutes, it's mediocre. The other factor is I probably heard Echoes more times in any single high school year than I've heard Atom Heart Mother in my life - so the "familiarity breeds contempt" factor may be coming into play.

Including POTW was probably trolling on my part, tho I do enjoy the simplicity. Thanks for biting...

That was our own Program Director....granted this quote I pulled out of context, so read back.....

go back on a search for "Echoes" and not only will you find a full discussion (on Floyd songs) but another thread praising the Pompei concert. It's a neat read, with posts by some long lost Moonies. there's even an Old Sol thread!
