Re: Uriah Heep
I once was in a conversation with a guy about music. I told him I liked jazz and classical, good straight rock, smart pop-rock, lots of good Christian bands (many of which are more creative and original than their secular counterparts, though the only bits most people here are the derivative ones), and even a little folk, but my favorite is progressive rock. His immediate response?
"So, all Uriah Heep marathon tonight?"
I don't know if that's an aye vote or not, but thought I'd share the story.
Personally, I'm not overly familiar with them, but what I've heard seems proggy enough. I mean, I like a broad definition of prog, so I don't seem them as any less proggy than Supertramp, whom I always thought of as "an interesting pop rock band."
And as per RNR's comments above, my favorite indie record stores, The Magic Platter and Slip Disc - may they RIP - both had Budgie and Heep in the prog section.
While we're on the subject of "obvious" bands not on AM, is there a reason no Asia is here, or is it just something that slipped through the cracks? I don't really care one way or the other. Just curious.
