Warm is a relative term. People prefer cold beer because it keeps. A friend used to drink beer (and I agree most domestics are not beer lol) at room temperature. Just a different style. It can be served warmer, per se.
39 degrees is fridge temp. Most beer could be drank warmer. Proper is in the eye of the beholder.
