why o why do u do it?

u know what pisses me off? is when u play the songs made buy one band but is being played by another band. for example there was and is right now as i am typing this thread pink floyd songs played by flying frog brigade, and earlier a song was played by conspiracy, etc. why can't u just play the song by the original artist since pink floyd is clearly the best at playing THEIR OWN songs! jeeze, it angers me so. when i heard those pink floyd songs being played by someone else i stopped listening to the station and went to listen to the right version of the songs(done by pink floyd)[/color]

edited by the administration to remove the annoying red. I have no intention of trying to fix the war this person is waging on the English language

uh....hello. You must be listening to Yesspaz's show of covers. It's been getting good feedback I thought.

I for one think a little variety is OK.

Do you walk out of a concert when a band plays a cover? I agree that "Comfortably Numb" has been done by EVERY band....but really, man, get a grip.

By the way (saw your avatar) I saw Zappa do a straight up version of Stairway To Heaven with Ike Willis singing. I imagine you wouldn't hold Frank to the same litmus test.

It may not be your cup of tea, and I agree mostly, but a little decorum wouln't hurt.

wow u know what pisses me off? is when u have not grammar to yell in red ink and not understand concept of cover song and make your first post to the website an antagonistic rant. I've heard Zappa do a mean version of Owner of a Lonely Heart. Man, imagine only playing original music all the time. Someone copyright the G-C-D chord progression right now.

PS, welcome my son, welcome to the Moon.

We here at Aural Moon give the DJs wide latitude in what they play. It's a very rare day indeed when I have to pull a song. In fact, it's so rare that I estimate that it happens 0 times per year.

This is a policy that I will continue to adhere to. Unless someone starts playing Rap or some other decidedly non-prog genre, the DJs will continue to be allowed to play what they wish.

Speaking only for myself, and not as a member of the staff, I'd suggest that if you don't like it, then perhaps you should listen to something else.

Or, if those long words are confusing you:

dude u suck u dont now what a cuver son is lol!

Roger -Dot- Lee, getting sick to his stomach just typing that garbage in.

I don't always like what I hear on AM. Some I just don't like, some I might be able to get to like, or maybe need to get to like. Some I view as prog, some not. Others view things differently, and that's what makes us family.

I see your molehile, and raise it with a meteoritic crater to drop this thread into.

PS: rick, got your email, but one isolated boil does not a mountain make...

Oh yeah. Sorry, but I actually haven't gotten to listen to any of it but that cover. I'll do that soon though.

I certainly try. It goes along with my philosophy to take as few things seriously as I can possibly get away with without being
  1. fired
  2. investigated by the FBI
  3. visited by the local constabulary
  4. getting an IRS audit
  5. having to explain things to my mother

Roger -Dot- Lee, life's too short to take so damn seriously.

I tried so very hard not to get involved but.........

Welcome to the Moon Christoph1163.

Can I ask if you ever listen to music? If you did you would notice that covering other people's work is rule rather than the exception. It is very flattering to have someone else cover your compositions even if they do it in a totally different way from your original.

I suppose you hate the idea of tribute bands then too? If so, I feel sorry for you as you will never get to hear, say, The Lamb........ as it was originally performed by Genesis back in the mid 70s and believe me you'll miss out on something HUGE!!!! That is of course unless you heard it the first time around. If that's the case I'm glad for you but my analogy still stands.

So, Christoph1163, GET REAL!!!!

There has always be covers, there will always be covers and Aural Moon will continue to play covers. If you can't handle that then try looking for a Station that doesn't play covers.......you'll have a very long search ahead of you.

english may not be this guy's 1st language....(?)

rush has a great recent cd of covers...
primus covers rush's Yyz, king crimson...

magna carta would likely be out of biz w/o tributes..

yesspaz- where's that zappa OOALH cover located?
i'd like to hear it!

Hi there kirk....I'm not sure...it's like Ozzy's "Stayin' Alive" tune......

Primus is one of those bands (like Gentle Giant) I've never seen. just cleaned up my concert list....such fun.

Hello christoph
I'm glad you hung around with us.
After re-reading this post, I find it is I who must apologize. You had an honest opinion and my response was rude.
Please forgive me.
