Cool Pat Metheny

I got to see a preview concert on Tuesday of the new Pat Metheny Group tour. they've just released a new album, "The Way Up", and it is incredible. if you're a fan, you'll like this one. an fabulous concert, full of some of the most amazing music that he and Lyle have written. "The Way Up" is a four movement piece lasting nearly 70 minutes, that they play without pause (except for the applause!). uncountable changing time signatures, guitar switches, and incredible drumming from Antonio Sanchez make for a blissful night. as if that wasn't enough, after they finished the feature piece (most of the audience would have been satisfied at that point), they came back and played for almost an hour and a half of old favorites! "First Circle", "The Bat", and too many to remember. a fabulous show.

obviously, I heartliy recommend catching this show!

Funny You Should Mention That

My brother and I are going to see The Pat Metheny Group on March 2 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.

I'm really looking forward to it. I figured it would be a great show, but from what you've written, it sounds as if it will be better than I imagined.

The one time I went to see Pat Methany, they said at the door to expect up to 3 hours of music without pause.

And they were right and it was superb playing and sound quality.

This time round however, Pat is much further away to go unfortunately.

Copenhagen on May 17... though since I don't know Denmark, nor where in Denmark you live, could be a long way!

Pat Metheny recorded great album with Polish female vocalist Anna Maria Jopek. I wonder if it is known out of Poland too.
