Rickter Scale Show 197 - Pete Laramee, Hidria Spacefolk, Galleon, vonFrickle

airing Sunday, October 5 from 8-11 PM EST and Monday, October 6 from 1-4 PM EST

Some more odds and ends (mostly odds)...as George Carlin said, if you have 24 odds and ends on a table and one falls off what's left an odd or an end?

Pete Laramee - Alone But Not Lonely (2002)

Call the Feds
The Rope Swing
Adena Watson
Charlie Brown Wins the Lottery
La Media Gringa
Too Much Eggnog
Split Personality
Walking the Walk
Survivor

Excellent solo record by the Kurgan's Bane guitarist. Brother Jeff supplies the percusssion, and Luis Nasser and (Big) Mike Galway each play some bass. "Walk" is a GREAT song, and there's some fine songwriting here. "Adena Watson" is a character from the show "Homicide", which I used to watch every week.

Hidria Spacefolk - Symetria (2007)

Symetria
Futur Ixiom
322
Flora/Fauna
Radien
Sine

Their last (until the next one) release, this delves more into rock and even has a funky section in "322". More acoustic and basic rock really add to their space base - with possibly the exception of track two, this whole CD is a winner.

Galleon - From Land to Ocean, CD1 (The Land) (2003)

Three Colours
Fall of Fame
The Porch
Liopleurodon
Land
Solitude

We're skipping "The Price" due to time..."Fall of Fame" and "Land" are two awesome songs. I wish this band was more successful, that is enough to sustain more releases and shows. Their last one "Engines of Creation" truly is great.

vonFrickle - Arrhythmia (2006)

Pyramidium
Scatterbrain
Freak Parade
Relax
Broth of Oblivion
Antiparticle Assassin
Triptyque d'Etrange

Seven of the nine cuts from their last disc. I've been hinting at them, playing a few songs, but here's the first extended look at this very visually entertaining band from Illinois. Arrhythmia the condition doesn't bring back fond memories, but the music does.

Not too much blather this week, just getting right to it...

Looks to be an excellent show. Wish we could podcast it so I don't keep missing it!
