Snowy White and the White Flames

First of all a thank you to Rick&Roll, who got me to know the name of Snowy as an excellent guitarist performing with Roger Waters on his last tour, and not only that, Snowy was also involved in PF gigs like The Wall show in 1982 etc.

Second, Snowy White is not prog.. Here the link to their homepage http://www.whiteflames.nl/home/index.php

The gig took place in Burg Satzvey ( http://www.burgsatzvey.de/ ). For all American friends, this is not Disneyland made of plastic. It is real!!

As I never heard Snowy White and the White Flames before, it was a real challenge. The only thing I knew that it was somehow blues related.

The gig begun 30 min late. The band entered the stage with a music from puter playing and they entered with their instruments. After all where in, the puter was shut down (I was standing just aside of the engineer, and after the expirience of Sieges Even, where parts of the music was playback, this was very important for me).

The music of the White Flames is Blues based, with ingridients of Santana, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and even salsa..Very particular but extremely good. Normal Blues can get boring after 15 min, but not this one, as it was combined with complicated rhythm passages showing the talent of each musician. I cannot tell you the setlist, as all was absolutelly unknown to me. Maybe the highlight was the tune before the encore, where all together begun, then there was a jam keyboard with drumsm alone, after that bass with percussion, in which the bass player remembered me to a gig I saw years ago whith Stanley Clark. It was the best of bass solo playing I saw since then..

Unfortunatelly the gig ended after 2 encores and 2 hours. Time passed to quick for me.

To get a little but only very little, impression of what the music is like, watch http://www.youtube.com/swf/cps.swf?v...l =1&border=0

So, although not prog, if Snowy White and the White Flames come near to you, go there! You will not regret!

Did I do that? I do know he used to be in Thin Lizzy...although not an original member.
