I saw Stanley Jordan open up for Bruce Hornsby maybe 20 years ago (wow has it been that long, I need to check on that)...anyway, the venue had a policy of no shows after 11 PM (outdoor). In the middle of a guitar LEAD, someone gave the throat slash signal - apparently, he was over his time alloted to the opener. Stanley finished with a quick run and a nod to his band to stop. No one was paying much attention anyway (unfortunately), I just happened to be close enough yet far enough off to the side to witness it.

Then Hornsby consistently complained that "I would play song x, but I HAVE to be off by 11". I haven't seen either of them back in the Columbia (south of Baltimore) area since...
