The thing to remember here of course is that inspired amateurs can often be more professional about their craft than the pros.

That is probably because they do it for love rather than bucks and give it their all rather than slip into the complacency box.

Yup! Fortunately most of AM is about the love of the music!

I would refer to it as a mediocrity box moreso than a complacency box.
