Re: What CD's Are you Playing Right Now? Top 5

The new Magma album Ëmehntëhtt-Rê is superb. As always an extraordinary drum work of C. Vander and vocals also very very brilliant.

As a consecuence of the above, for now i can't stop playing Magma's albums (from Kobaia to Retrospektiw, incluiding of course Mekanik Destruktiw Komando and Live). Also Watching their great DVD's.

Sure not of Proddirjim's appreatiation, but still Mexican Groups Austin TV and Porter has held my interest for a while. Not prog at all but my tastes are not limited to prog.

The live versions of Magma´s Hhai and Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh has reshocked me again and again. Really timeless great f...ing music.

I have been looked forward to hear Locanda Delle Fate - Homo Homini Lupus for a long time and i got really dissapointed. No trace of Their 70's masterpiece. Most of Italian comebacks has been likewise.

Hey but i also have just heard new Maschera di Cera's Album Petali di Fuoco. Sounds really good. I think my Magma's disease is about to get cured.....

I must be in a nostalgic mood:
Jimi Hendrix
Deep Purple (1969)
Traffic, Shootout at the Fantasy Factory
Neil Young, Everybody Knows... (I know, not prog at all, but I like the guitar work)
Porcupine Tree, Sky Moves Sideways (at least this one's less than thirty years old!)

Re: What CD's Are you Playing Right Now? Top 5

Just saw these bands in Philly last week; still listening to their CDs.
-Barn Owl: The Conjurer
-High Avrad: Third Life
Also, in the mix.
-Cabezas De Cera: s/t
-Eloy: Power And The Passion
-House Of Freaks: Tantilla (2004 edition with much bonus material), this band is a very good modern rock duo circa 1989

Barn Owl is a duo of guitar and bass. They might be best described as experimental avant rock with black metal moments. They rocked a tiny old venue on U of Penn's campus.
High Avrad is one guy on all types of electronics and occasional guitar. I think he had some problems with his equipment during the show, cutting it short. The CD is better.
Anyway, the venerable Loren Mazzacane Connors was also on hand. He's a NYC legend with avant stylings on guitar.
