Children should be seen and not heard.
I'm not going to defend Milla or her addition to AM, but there are some facts that have been overlooked. The album in question was released in 1994, when she was 18, but written 3 years before that and recorded a year later, when she was 15 and 16, respectively. As for myself, I never heard of her until The Fifth Element, which was released in 1997. I assume that no one else on these forums had heard of her either. So why should anyone give a crap what she looks like or what else she does in her career when "The Divine Comedy" was something she did as a virtual unknown?
After reading the forums yesterday, I heard "It's Your Life" and thought it was alright. It doesn't have any less right to be here than Enya or Mozart, IMO. I heard some of her other songs later on and didn't care for them, but that's the thing with AM. I don't like Renaissance (or Annie Haslam--I just don't see what's so great about her). I never really cared that much for Kate Bush, either. I also can't stand Gentle Giant (or any other Canterbury band, for that matter). But they're all here, and I don't feel the need to blast the station or anyone else for trying something new and expanding their horizons. Thanks, Davin and Jim, for making AM what it is today. And I would like to see more Anekdoten on the playlist too. I also would like to see Spock's Beard's first (and, arguably, best) album on the list. I think I even read a post that it was going to be, but it never happened, and I LET IT GO. I own the album, SB gets enough exposure on AM, and I realize that it takes time and a lot of money to run this station, so I didn't press the issue. I didn't scream and yell about being lied to, or that nobody reads my posts, I just moved on with my life. Now as for you, mrbruno: First of all, sarcasm doesn't really work too well in the written form. Even if you were feigning your anger at first, it never came across as such. You didn't sound terribly sarcastic, you sounded like a two-year-old throwing a temper tantrum. Second, if Milla is such a big-selling "marginally-progressive" artist, how come I had never heard anything about this 8-year-old album until yesterday? Did it ever occur to you that she could have put as much heart and soul into the album as Anekdoten did/does with thier own work? Next, you said "I will now... stop posting" yet you posted two more times (and probably will again). Maybe you really do need the last word, not us. Finally, cooking sherry is a wine used for, you guessed it, cooking. The fact that you didn't understand or have the maturity to laugh at Rael's joke (good one, Rael!), along with your childish response, just goes to prove my temper-tantrum theory. And how constructive were your remarks? If you had told us all about why you felt Milla was not progressive in a calm and level-headed manner, I'm sure we all would have taken you more seriously. Okay, that's my two cents.
