Hi Rick,
Thanks! I submitted my request to join. Now I'll have to check out Salem Hill. Shame on me for not knowing them!

Andyyyy,

I reckon you're going to LOVE Salem Hill. They are definitely one of my favourite finds from listening to The Moon.

I first heard them when I saw them live at Rosfest 2004. Shame on ME for not hearing them before!

On each release prior to the latest, they had a couple of King's X sounding songs, which immediately caught my ear.

First two CD's (Salem Hill and Different Worlds) are in the Kansas vein, but has some mature stuff on it. Then Catatonia, Robbery of Murder, Not Everybody's Gold, and the live Puppet Show. Robbery and Catatonia are some fans' favorites.

The last two, Be and Mimi's Magic Moment (my avatar by the way), are in my top records ever. They're that good.

Moses is also a huge fan and can provide insight.

I've played all of Be on the show, and all of Mimi at some point. I'll most likely do a full show in May or June.

Carl Groves (the main Hillion) has a great solo CD, Branch Upon the Ground (played that also and has since been added to the Moon).

Andy, I have to agree with all the comments here on your CD. Like Kirk said................Originally Posted by kirk

great music happening! much of it goes beyond "tribute". Much, much agree with this comment. I was a huge GG fan, saw them 3 times and pushed the heck out them, while working in a record store. I like ALL of their albums, probably Power and the Glory, the most. I sure wish they'd re-unite. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!

Re: Music inspired by Gentle Giant

Hey York,
Thanks for your kind words. I had a hard drive crash and am still reassembling missing info...argh! Thus the late reply..

I lived the wish of a reuniting of GG for many years, but have had to accept that it ain't gonna happen. We do have little bits of new music by the keyboard genious, Kerry Minnear on the two DVDs, GG on the Box and GG @ the GG. It's only the intro and some menu music, but it gives me goosbumps! It's still the sheer genious of Kerry.

If you or anyone is a big fan I would invite you to join the mailing list On-Reflection with other GG nuts like myself and some very knowlegable musicians as well. You can find info at http://www.experience-sampling.org/GG/onreflection.html ...we even have chat room sessions now and then...
