Re: Survival bag

Nektar - Remember The Future (Part 1) (and Part 2 if I could sneak it aboard - it really is one long track that had to be divided up because of vinyl.)

Re: Survival bag

Pink Floyd - that's a toughy. All reverence given to Alan's Pyschedelic Breakfast, of course, I'd still have to go with Meddle's "Echoes." A touch of the early with the foreshadowing of the music to come.

ATOM HEART MOTHER Why? Because it's rife with all the excesses of progressive rock sensibilities: it's a long radio-unfriendly composition; replete with backing choir and orchestra; has great uplifting melodic parts as well as dark and dissonant parts; chock full of quirky and spacey interludes; lead motorbike and broken glass parts; just when you think it's concluding, it's not; fabulous production qualities (thanks to Mr. Parsons); recorded in Abbey Road Studios; and hated by all the critics! It's Pink Floyd at their most experimental stage, IMO.

Re: Survival bag

Crucible - An Imp's Tale
Dixie Dregs - Free Fall
Kansas - Journey from Mariabonn
Magenta - White Witch
Roxy Music - Avalon
Renaissance - Ashes Are Burning (Live)
Can - Future Days
Bill Bruford - If You Can't Stand The Heat
Flash - Small Beginning
The Mahavishnu Orchestra - One Word

Okay, that should stir up enought trouble for now.

You damn right it did

Crucible - they only put out two records!
Dregs - I'm Freaking Out, or Hereafter
Kansas - not a bad choice....
Magenta - Gluttony, but Witch is prob better

Focus - Hamburger Concerto
(I like Peter's Brick choice)

and

Greg Howard - Water on the Moon

I don't believe it matters how many records they put out. If I may quote the original premise of this thread "...one representational track from every progressive band that has ever put finger to mellotron or guitar...."

Good Focus Cut!
And equally good Dregs cuts as well.
