Cool! looking for historic sites, etc. The Guinness MUST be cold, can't drink it warm like the folks across the sea .

Myth. Beer is not served warm!

Just because beer is not chilled to within fractions of a degree of freezing -- making it so cold that one's teeth hurt to drink it -- does NOT mean that the beer is served warm.

The ONLY reason US domestic beer is served ICE COLD is so that you can't taste it! Believe me, you wouldn't want to taste as most US domestic beers because they taste like piss.

You will be served a proper pint of Guinness poured at 4ºC.

Warm is a relative term. People prefer cold beer because it keeps. A friend used to drink beer (and I agree most domestics are not beer lol) at room temperature. Just a different style. It can be served warmer, per se.

39 degrees is fridge temp. Most beer could be drank warmer. Proper is in the eye of the beholder.
