Another silly prog parody

I love writing in general. I love prog. And I love parody. I once posted a parody I wrote of Genesis' "Misunderstanding" - it's in the forums, you can search on it if interested. I think it's pretty funny.

In the shoutbox tonight, Asia came up, and I'm working on a parody of "Heat of the Moment". The chorus and first verse were ad libbed real time:

I never meant to write this song
Knew from the start that it was wrong
One thing led to another, it was dumb
And in my ass I jammed my thumb

It was the heat of the moment
Telling us to just make a buck
Heat of the moment
This ain't worth a fuck

I'll post again if I add to this, but it made me laugh and I hope it does you too...

I really don't think everyone is "Down" on Asia per-see, I think it's more of a thing disapointment that such a great lineup, put out music that could really blow it out and they just don't! It's cool they play some old favorites but I think it makes them a target of exasperation.

You've never heard his Moody Blues parody "Bites of White Salmon/Latte Lament?", his YES parody "Owner of a Car that Fell Apart" or his Rush parody "Farewell to Don King"?

Re: Another silly prog parody

I like Asia. There, I said it.

Oh, and Weird Al's "Chunky Fan," about a guy who only likes really hefty girls, was a great song.

He had white chocolate
And ladies by the ton
All dressed in XXLs
Models - he had none.

Ooooh, what a chunky fan he was.
Ooooh, what a chunky fan he was.

Re: Another silly prog parody

For the record, that's not a real Weird Al song.

Asia gave an open air concert here last night and played the usual mixture of old and new songs for 90 minutes. General opinion: main stream rock which sells. It's funny that such a lineup doesn't live up to the standards they used to set as individuals. In any case, we enjoyed it and had a great evening.
