Grobschnitt in Hagen Jan 22, 2011

The gig in Hagen was nearly sold out. At the beginning of the gig Willy Wildsau remebered the days 40 years ago when Grobschnitt did their first gig not very far away from the today's venue place (Grobschnitt was founded in Hagen). Willy said that in theses days nobody of them (they were about 19 years old) imagined that they would play 40 years later with their sons the same tunes.

The setlist was nearly identical to the last gig I saw in Hückeswagen, meaning entire Rockpommels Land (60 min), short break, Some tunes from Razzia and Illegal, Father Smith, and of course Solar Music, special version for Jan 22 in Hagen.

In the first 10 min of Rockpommels Land it seemed to me, that they were not 100% tuned in the rhythm and harmony (maybe I am too critic), but step by step it became better and better to an extend, that it was so beautiful that I had chicken skin and tears in the eyes (no joke and not exaggerating!)

After the break it begun similar, it was not 100% "round". But latest with "Wir wollen leben" the continued there were they finished before the break. Solar Music was a lot different from the last time I heard it, much complexer and with experimental elements accompanied by a wonderful harmonic light and laser show. The laser was used in a very sparse but impressive way.

Well, the oficial part finished with this Solar Music (about 60 min long..). Doris I left after spending applause without waiting for the encores, as I believe that every encore could maybe destroy this dream of a gig...

US-Moonies, Asia-Moonies, Aussie-Moonies, East/West/Nord/South-Euro-Moonies..I am very sorry for you all as Grobschnitt only gigs here in Central Europe...They will give another 4 gigs this year and then probably pause for one year or more.
